An elevated identity for Interior Designer, Katy Innes.

When Katy called me one day in September 2021 asking if I wanted to be part of this project, I just knew that whatever we created was going to be incredibly special. This project was inspiring for so many different reasons and is one that I will always hold close to my heart.

Katy and I studied Interior Design together many years before we collaborated on this project. Ironically, we both left our course early and forged our own path to where we ultimately ended up; Katy a budding, independent Interior Designer and myself a Brand Strategist and Designer going at it alone. Life has a funny way of coming full circle — I think this collaboration illustrates that perfectly.

Our ultimate goal throughout this project was to create a refined and cohesive brand that resonated with high-end clients looking for quality and consistency. We knew it needed to be brand that is built on beautiful aesthetics and luxurious experiences, but with an incredibly personal touch. Katy had had a whirlwind year after a pandemic redundancy and forming (and ultimately ending) a partnership with a friend in the industry and really needed a stable, strong identity that she could grow into with confidence. She had big ambitions for the future and we needed to create something that would support her through the growth she would experience as she achieved those bolder goals. We wanted to convey Katy’s knowledge and expertise, but whilst maintaining a feeling of relatability and warmth.

Katy had the advantage of already having dipped her toes into the ‘running your own creative business’ pool. She knew what was working, what wasn’t working, and was bursting with enthusiasm at the thought of finally creating a brand that felt like her. She had a good idea of where she wanted to take the project and was full of inspired ideas, which always makes for a fulfilling and energising collaboration.

The visual identity for KI Interiors feels current, but with a hint of playfulness to create a visual that felt really personal. The typeface you see throughout the logo variations is high-contrast and contemporary, whist maintaining desired sophistication. Little customisations help to create something that is totally bespoke and not seen anywhere else, creating an identity that feels really well considered and unique. The colour palette works with neutrals and refreshing blue tones, making for a very cool feel overall, but they work beautifully together and create a a lovely feel across the website. The base colour from the palette brings a hint of warmth and provides a welcoming feeling to the whole brand, whilst the blues stand their ground.

The final concept is clean and crisp with a slightly playful feel — quite literally the perfect representation of Katy.
