An introduction to Spring.

Happy first day of Spring!

Doesn’t this feel good? I’m not sure about you, but for me it feels like we’ve been waiting a day and age for Spring to arrive this year. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be relishing the lighter evenings, and feeling refreshed by the promise of a new season. I always find that at this point in the year a huge surge of inspiration arrives, seemingly out of nowhere. I’m a Spring baby (my birthday is in May), and this time of year always feels really special to me; there is the promise of fresh starts, warmer days, beautiful blooms, seasonal food, and the relaxing energy that comes with the arrival of Summer in a few months time.

Each season has a personality, and with it comes an interesting shift in mood, colour and vision. It’s not by any means a non-negotiable that your identity moves with the seasons, but a subtle shift in your brand messaging, photography and colours can help to keep things fresh and exciting for both you and your audience, whilst creating a brand that feels energised and inspiring all year round. How does Spring feel to you? For me, it feels bright, fresh, and completely uplifting. Our surroundings are waking after Winter, and our days begin to feel full of energy, possibility, and colour. Around this time of year, my brand messaging feels optimistic; this is the season of growth, and there’s lots of forward thinking going on. I always find now is a good time to either start a new project, or publish one that you’ve been nurturing over the Winter months. The colour palette for The Brand House is largely neutral, which gives me the opportunity to introduce seasonal colours, in small amounts, throughout the year — in Spring I may add a warm green, in Summer a soft, golden yellow, in Autumn a dark orange, and in Winter a deep red or navy. Always do what feels right for you and your brand, but don’t be afraid to play with seasonal elements that add a little fun and excitement. Here are some of my favourite ways to add a little Springtime to The Brand House:

- Utilising my illustrative brand elements more than usual. They’re soft and playful, perfectly suited to Spring.

- Adding a Spring inspired accent colour to my website or social media content. At this time of year, it’ll most likely be a warm green, a muted orange or a delicate pink. Have a play around and see what works for you.

- Taking care with my brand messaging, to make sure it feels uplifting and unpretentious.

I’ve pulled together a moodboard for this post to share some of my favourite pieces of inspiration for Spring. If you’d like to see more of my influences, please do take a look at this Pinterest board.
