An elevated and inspirational brand identity for Martin & Cox.

Jemma Cox is a commercial stylist and florist, and spent over ten years working in the events and wedding space. Martin & Cox is the result of many years of work, and offers thoughtful and intuitive brand styling, corporate floristry and design consultancy. Jemma really knows what she's doing, and you'd be hard pushed to find a better pair of hands for your next brand shoot or special event. Jemma approached me in the Summer of 2022, after a transformative period in her business. After some soul-searching, she’d realised she’d been trying to do too much, and offer too much, and that something had to give.

We had a clear idea of how the brand should feel, but our biggest task was ironing out what Martin & Cox offered and how we could best articulate that throughout the brand. We spent a lot of time going back and forth on Jemma’s services, figuring out a way in which we could elegantly describe what Martin & Cox stands for. We grouped the services together as a collection of offerings for storytellers — regardless of which service a client buys into, this brand is first and foremost about creativity, expression and stories; treasured memories made at home, the tale of an incredible special event that was styled to perfection, the story of a gorgeous store launching with flair and confidence. It’s a really nice way to group together a bunch of creative offerings that, on paper, didn’t really sit alongside eachother comfortably.

Above all else, we wanted to create a brand that felt aspirational and forward-thinking, resonating with clients that are looking for quality, knowledge and experience. The final concept feels traditional and sophisticated, but with some subtle, modern touches that add some interest and depth. Jemma’s work is incredibly creative, and we wanted that to remain at the forefront of everything we worked on. We stuck with simple forms that looked great, but still gave the imagery and Jemma’s portfolio some room to shine. The twist in the ‘o’ within ‘Cox’ creates a small point of interest, and is a nice, quiet visual representation of going against the grain and harnessing your own creativity.

Above all else, the new brand identity for Martin & Cox feels clean and elevated. It gives the business some room to grow, and gives Jemma’s work the space it needs to take centre stage. You can experience Jemma’s brand here, and follow along with her fantastic work on her IG.
